As we gear up for International Women's Day (IWD) 2025 on March 8, the campaign theme this year is clear: Accelerate Action. This powerful message serves as a rallying cry for all of us to unite and push for gender equality in our communities and workplaces.

According to the World Economic Forum, at the current rate of progress, we won't achieve full gender parity until 2158—an alarming notion that translates to roughly five generations from now. This timeline is unacceptable; it emphasises the pressing need for swift, decisive action to create meaningful change in the lives of women around the globe.

Focusing on the theme of Accelerate Action is crucial, as it highlights the urgency we face in dismantling the systemic barriers and biases that women continue to encounter, both personally and professionally. From unequal pay to the under-representation of women in leadership roles, these challenges can not be ignored any longer.

International Women's Day is not just a day to celebrate the achievements of women but also a reminder that we must continue to fight for equality. It’s a day to stand in solidarity and pledge our commitment to accelerating efforts that will support and uplift women everywhere.

Together, let’s take tangible steps to accelerate action. This could mean advocating for policy changes, supporting women-owned businesses, mentoring young women in our communities, or simply raising awareness about the ongoing struggles for gender equality.
